A three-day Sabz Journalism Environmental Reporting training workshop, organised by the Global Neighbourhood for Media Innovation (GNMI) in collaboration with the United States Department of State, was held in Karachi to highlight the significance of investigative and data-driven journalism in environmental reporting.
"Investigative and data-driven journalism are indispensable tools in Pakistan's environmental reporting arsenal, crucial for highlighting human-centric critical issues, ensuring accountability," said the GNMI General Secretary Syed Masood Raza during his address.
Raza also added that ethical practices serve as the cornerstone of environmental reporting which guides reporters in their pursuit of "truth and accuracy" while upholding the highest standards of integrity.
During the program, sessions were conducted by distinguished experts in the industry, such as the founder of MoJo Pakistan, Ayaz Khan and an expert in digital marketing and monetization Hassan Meer.
"Fellows gained valuable insights and knowledge from these experts on creating compelling digital content and using effective digital marketing techniques. This will empower them to establish or strengthen their online news platforms for environmental reporting," said the statement.

Chief Conservator of Sindh Wildlife Department, Javed Mahar Ahmed, highlighted the vital contribution of well-informed journalists in educating the public on environmental matters.
Participants benefitted from the expertise of the professionals, who acquired valuable insights into crafting engaging digital content and employing effective digital marketing strategies.
Representatives from prominent media outlets based in Karachi, such as Dawn, Samaa TV, Jang News, ARY News, Geo News, Aaj TV, Neo TV, 24 News, Radio Pakistan, Soch Media, Dialogue Pakistan, Sindh Express-News, Gwadar e Tawar, as well as freelance journalists and filmmakers, were among the attendees at the event.
