In Dec 2023 Multan Enforcement seizes NDP vehicles and goods in value Rs 437.29 millions

Shah Faisal Additional Collector said that continuation of FBR’s drive against smuggling activities in the country, the Collectorate of Customs, Enforcement, Multan has further paced-up its Anti-Smuggling crackdown against smuggled goods, illegal godowns & dumping places.

He said that in this regard, NDP-vehicles, Carrier Vehicles, Smuggled POL, Mobile Phones, Food Items, Cigarettes, Betel Nuts etc. worth Rs.437.29 million were apprehended, during the Month of December, 2023 which is a 7% increase in terms of value, compared to the corresponding time period of previous financial year comprises Carrier Vehicles 5 Nos Rs 23.0 million, Vehicle (NDP) 40 Nos. Rs 213.5 million, Betel Nuts 14265 Kgs Rs 43.0 million, Food Items (dry fruits / skimmed milk etc.) 6165 Nos./Kgs Rs 31.0
million, HSD Oil 11300 3.5 litters, Cigarettes 7023 outers Rs31.25 million, Mobile Phones 61 Nos. Rs 48.8 million
Misc. Items 1537 Nos./Kgs 43.24
total Rs 437.29 million.

Doing comparison between December 2022 and 2023 the Additional Collectir said that during correspondence period the MCC Enforcement Multan registered 48 number of cases in worth of Rs411 million whereas 113 cases in worth of Rs437.29 million were registered during dec 2023.

He said that Multan Collectorate under the command of Collector Syed Imran S. Bukhari has resolved to promote genuine/legal trade activities and to discourage illegal businesses using smuggled goods.

Since non-duty paid vehicles are prone to misuse in criminal/terrorist activities, the Collectorate under special directions of Dr. Fareed Iqbal Qureshi, Member Customs (Operations) laid special emphasis on apprehending non-duty paid vehicles which yielded remarkable results. The Collectorate apprehended forty (40) non-duty paid vehicles which is the highest number of non-duty paid vehicles seized by this Collectorate in any given month.

He said that during the month of November 2023 the Collectorate seized no of 19 NDP vehicles in worth of Rs169.5 million while during month of December 2023 it seized no of 40 NDP vehicles in value of Rs213.5 million.

During the month of December 2023, three major cases; one of Misc. Goods (Cigarettes, Betel Nuts, Naswar & Gutka etc.) along with 02 carrier vehicles amounting to Rs.27 million, second of Misc. Goods (Food Items, Watches, Ladies Hand Bags, Bedsheets, Gents Garments, Ladies Garments, Ladies Shoes etc. along with carrier vehicle amounting to Rs.29 million, and third of 10719 Kgs Betel Nuts worth Rs.22 million were seized. One person has been arrested and is under investigation, remaining three persons stand convicted.

Shah Faisal said that Revenue through administrative measures including auction, currency deposits, encasements hovers around Rs.124 million. Moreover, strict instructions to the anti-smuggling formations including mobile squads of the Collectorate and airport have been issued to keep vigilance on the illicit movement of essential goods / commodities, Iranian POL, currency, gold and mobile phones.

Meanwhile no of 750 bags of urea fertilizer in value of Rs.28.07 seized at Dauwala Joint Check Post and handed over to District Administration, Sadiqabad.

As well as during another case 4000 bags of uria in worth of Rs81.0 million seized at Kot Sabzal Joint Check Post and handed over it to District Administration, Sadiqabad the Additional Collector concluded.
