Recent news reported by local outlets has left many shaken up. In a harrowing revelation, Lahore-based salon owner Zainab Jamil accused her husband of attempting to murder her following a heated dispute over her social media presence.
Zainab, who is also a former actor, described the traumatic events, emphasising the police's failure to take action against the alleged perpetrator. According to her account, she had been receiving threats for the past two months, culminating in a horrifying attack where she narrowly survived a shooting.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) singer and actor Hadiqa Kiani let her fury be known. "Women in Pakistan demand protection!" she said assertively. "The harrowing cases of Zainab Jamil and Noor Mukadam emphasise the urgent need for action. The government must ensure the safety of its people and must ensure justice!" She continued, "Remember, Zainab is alive despite the horrific attack, it is truly a blessing we must safeguard while Noor’s family is still fighting for justice."

Maryam Nawaz, too, took notice of the incident. "Zainab Jamil was brutally shot by hitmen as she walked out of her salon after work," said the political leader. "I have instructed DIG operations to employ all resources to arrest the culprits without delay. Zainab has Alhamdulillah survived. Crimes against women are being dealt with strictly and swiftly."

The incident took place in Lahore's Defense B area, as per local reports, where unidentified gunmen opened fire on Zainab, severely injuring her. Police reports indicate that the assailants fled the scene quickly, leaving behind their motorcycle and the firearm used in the attack. While preliminary investigations hint at personal enmity as a potential motive, Zainab firmly believes her estranged husband orchestrated the assault due to her refusal to shut down her social media accounts.
