Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, a self-proclaimed singer famous for his off-key performances on social media, has extended an offer to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following Pakistan's exit from the ICC T20 World Cup.
During a promotional event for a movie, he shared his views on the national team's disappointing performance in an interview with a private Pakistani TV channel. Khan suggested that the PCB requires an experienced cricketer as its chairman and expressed his interest in taking on the role.
"If appointed chairman, I would personally oversee player performances and coaching four days a week," Khan stated. He emphasised that he would appoint one coach for the national team and personally ensure the quality of coaching.
When asked if he would like to replace current chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Khan clarified, "I am not criticising Naqvi. I just want him to consider my offer. As he is also the interior minister with significant responsibilities, I believe he should delegate the PCB chairmanship to me."
Khan highlighted his first-class cricket experience, having played in the 1983-84 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy for Lahore, and emphasised the need for mental and emotional strength within the team.
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, born Kashif Rana, played two first-class matches, scoring just 16 runs across three innings before moving to the UK, where he played club cricket for 12 years.
