Tribal sit-ins at Torkham border road, bilateral trade severely affected

For the past one week, tribals have been staging a sit-in on the route from Torkham border to Peshawar due to which fruit and vegetable traders are suffering and their perishable items are spoiling in their vehicles.

Speaking to Mahsool.net, the high official of Customs has said that the process of TED (Temporary Entry Document) which was slow earlier has now improved and vehicles from Pakistan to Afghanistan and from Afghanistan to Pakistan more than 50% of the drivers have received their papers, which has improved bilateral trade.

In response to a question, the official said that now since the road from Torkham to Peshawar is closed due to the protest sit-in of tribal people, due to which several vehicles loaded with vegetables and fresh fruits are stuck on the road, whose fruits and vegetables are damaged. Due to which the businessman is losing millions of rupees.

In response to another question, the official said that if the Tarkham border road is closed, the cargo vehicles come from the other borders adjacent to Afghanistan, namely Kharlachi and Ghulam Khan, which are too far away and the law and order situation is not satisfactory.
