An unfortunate incident took place today in which smugglers opened fire on customs officials when Customs squad was chaising the offending vehicle during firing of smugglers one of smuggler lost his life.
According to details told by spokes person of Customs Quetta that a truck carrying smuggled goods was signaled to stopped near main city area adjacent to Baluchistan Governor House but the driver tried to drive away.
The vehicle was chased by the custom mobile squads. At which the smugglers who were riding in private vehicles tried to stop the customs mobile.The squad did not stop chaising while at the meantime the smugglers opened fire targeting the custom mobile vehicle, resulting in severe damage to the vehicle.
After a continuous chase, the customs officials finally managed to stop the truck at Imdat Chowk. The driver along with other smugglers later managed to escape from the spot but one smuggler died with firing of other smugglers spokes person said.
Further investigation is under ways and details of smuggled goods loaded in the seized truck are also under progress.
