PM oders for strict action against those involved in smuggling

The Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar ordered to stop smuggling and take strict action against the officials involved in it.

A meeting was held on the prevention of smuggling under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, in which a briefing was given on the measures to prevent the smuggling of various goods in the border areas.

It was informed in the briefing that 10 additional joint check posts have been set up in Balochistan to prevent smuggling and the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies have reduced smuggling by 40%.

The Caretaker Prime Minister directed to stop the smuggling of sugar, petroleum products, urea and agricultural commodities and said that an interagency report should be made of the government officials involved in smuggling in Balochistan and effective action should be taken against the officials involved in smuggling.

He said that due to the smuggling of petroleum products, there is a decrease in revenues and severe pressure on foreign exchange, the overall volume of the economy is losing billions of rupees due to smuggling and it has become inevitable to eliminate the scourge of smuggling from the country.

He said that he will review in the weekly meeting to prevent the problem of smuggling. He also directed to make the border markets with Iran more active. Later, in his tweet, the caretaker prime minister said that one of the major causes of Pakistan’s economic problems is smuggling, tax evasion, increasing dollar value and other problems are related to smuggling,
