Due to Local tribes blockage trade has diverted to Ghulam khan and Kharlachi, Only 20% traffic is from torkham border.Local administration has miserably failed to handle the situation.
Sources of Customs department told the correspondent that Torkham border is open and the trade is normal, TAD issue is now resolved as both countries have issued a good number of TAD permits. Now trucks are available and there are no bottlenecks on the border.
But there is a big problem, some local tribes on our side are protesting and have blocked the main road from Peshawar to Torkham which has badly affected trade and people from both sides have suffered as their cargo laden trucks are on roads for last fifteen days.
Importers and exporters of fresh fruit and our industry are at great loss.
