The anti-smuggling team of Customs Intelligence, Karachi has seized smuggled goods worth Rs 93 million in three operations.
Inam Ullah Wazir the Director Intelligence and Investigation informed to the Mahsool.net that continuation of Customs Intelligence counter smuggling operations, it has affected huge seizures in the last three days.
He said that in a specific information that a group involved in organized smuggling of smuggled cloth and dumping it in godown at Liaqatabad area and then further supply it to different markets of Karachi, added that surveillance was mounted in the said area which led to the interception of the godown. A huge quantity (18.5 tons) of smuggled curtain/sofa cloth were recovered. Value of the seized goods and is estimated to be Rs 67 million approx.
Secondly, acting on intelligence information, an oil tanker which was coming from Hub to Karachi has been intercepted near Gul bai over head bridge. 36000 ltrs smuggled diesel were recovered. Value of the seized vehicle and diesel is estimated to be Rs 25 million.
The Director told that the total value of the seized goods is estimated to be Rs 93 million (9.2 crore) while further investigation is underway
