In Wadi Tirah area of Khyber district, Customs Intelligence and Frontier Corps (FC) North arrested 8 suspects after recovering drugs worth crores of rupees in two major operations against drug peddlers.
According to the statement issued by Customs Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar, Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation FBR Islamabad received secret information that a huge amount of drugs were being smuggled from Afghanistan in the form of laborers at any time through Khyber District Rajgul Pakistan.
Director Customs Intelligence Islamabad provided secret information to Director Customs Intelligence Peshawar Shafqat Ali Khan and after confirming the information, with mutual consultation provided all secret information to FC 215 Wing Tirah and 106 Wing Jarubi Sector Tirah.
For further action, Director Customs Intelligence Peshawar Shafqat Ali Khan dispatched a special team headed by Deputy Director Customs Intelligence Peshawar Amanat Khan to Wadi Tirah Rajgul and Zarai Sir.
Under the coordinated strategy of Frontier Corps and Customs Intelligence, the first operation was carried out in Zirai Sar area of Tirah Valley where huge amount of narcotics were being transported to Tirah Valley Pakistan on the shoulders of laborers.
The FC officials recovered 38 kg of high quality hashish and 6 and a half kg of ice. However, in the meantime, the accused fled after seeing the forces.
The value of the exported drugs in the international market is Rs 103 million, including hashish worth Rs 3.8 million and ice worth Rs 6.5 million.
According to the customs officials, the second operation was conducted at the remote Tirah Rajgul valley where 92 kg of high quality hashish was recovered and 8 accused were arrested during the joint blockade.
The seized hashish is worth Rs 9.2 million in the international market. The accused have been shifted to Peshawar Customs Station for further investigation.
According to preliminary information, the arrested suspects are from an international drug trafficking network and most of the proceeds from drugs are used for terrorism.
According to customs officials, two weeks ago, in a joint operation of Customs Intelligence and Frontier Corps North, drugs worth 115 million rupees were seized along with the accused in Tirah Valley of Khyber district.
