An interesting seizure case of smuggling of betel nuts has been made by collectorate of custom, Hyderabad on the night of 1st June 2024.
On the basis of a credible information and on the instructions of the collector Hyderabad, a shazore truck carrying eggs was stopped at Hyderabad. On search One (01) ton of betel nuts was found hidden under the crates of eggs.
Contraband beetle nut is main raw material of Gutka and Mawa manufacturing which has become an extreme health hazardous material consumed by large population of several districts in Sindh.
The Collector has appreciated the successful anti-smuggling operation by ASO Hyderabad .
