The Directorate has made seizures of smuggled goods valuing Rs.292 million as compared correspondence period Jan-Feb, 2023 showing an increase of 62% in terms of value.
According to details during the last two months Jan-Feb, 2024 the Directorate has detected cases of smuggled goods valuing Rs.168.45 million as compared to last year Jan-Feb, 2023 as Rs.55.41 million, showing an increase of 204% in terms of value.
The Directorate has seized 19 Nos of non-duty paid / smuggled vehicles valuing Rs.71.44 million during the last months of Jan-Feb, 2024 as compared to 20 Nos during same period of last year Jan-Feb, 2023.
Seizure of Smuggled Foreign Origin Cigarettes:
On the special directions of the Director General, the Directorate carried out special anti-smuggling campaign against cigarettes and has seized 1,504,200 sticks of foreign origin cigarettes valuing Rs.52.42 million during last two months Jan-Feb, 2024, as compared to 1,060,400 sticks valuing Rs.22.57 million during previous last months of Jan-Feb, 2023 showing an increase of 132% in terms of value of the cigarettes.
The Directorate realized revenue of Rs.110.54 million through auction during last two months Jan-Feb, 2024 with an increase of 364% over the last year months of Jan-Feb, 2023.
Shafqat Ali Khan Niazi the Director of Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar said that in line with the vision of Ch. Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, Director General, Intelligence and Investigation (Customs), Islamabad, the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation (Customs)-FBR, Peshawar has performed extraordinary to curb the menace of smuggling in area of its jurisdiction.
Niazi further said that the Directorate has foiled various attempts of smuggling of goods and narcotics he further said that the Directorate has helped in highlighting smuggling trends and helping other field formation by disseminating timely intelligence reports to foil any attempt of the smuggling of non-duty and contraband goods within its jurisdiction.
