Customs Intelligence KPK & LEAs takes joint Crackdown against Smuggling

Pakistan Customs with the active support of Pak Army 11 Corpse, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and Intelligence Bureau has started massive crackdown against smuggling in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Following the Directions of Director General, Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, and pursuing an information provided by IFC 11 Corps and real time guidance by Intelligence Bureau, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence intercepted a container loaded with contraband goods today early in the morning.

Initially the smugglers showed resistance and made Customs squad hostage. However, later on all the Law Enforcement Agencies, including D.I.Khan Police, IFC, Pak Army Rapid Response Unit and Customs Enforcement D.I.Khan chased the container and made it immobile at Yarak D.I.Khan.

As per intial examination, the container is stuffed with smuggled tyres, cloth, betel nuts, green tea, plastic bags. Value of goods is estimated as 50 million while of the vehicle as 20 million. Many goods have marks of Afghan Transit Goods. Two smuggler have been arrested and FIR has been lodged.

Earlier, pursuing an info provided by IFC 11 Corpse and Director General Intelligence Customs, Customs Enforcement and D.I.Khan Police jointly nabbed three containers full of POL Products two days ago. After examination, two tankers were found loaded with smuggled Irani Diesel, 55,000 liters each. Value of Diesel comes to Rs. 34 million and tankers to Rs. 40 million. Both tankers have been seized by Customs D.I.Khan. While the third has been found loaded with LPG and its status is being examined.

Couple of days ago, D.I.Khan Police and Customs Enforcement D.I.Khan with active support of Customs Intelligence, Peshawar seized three (3) trucks and five (5) containers from deep inside Darazinda area of D.I.Khan, and brought the same to Anti-Smuggling Office, Enforcement Division D.I.K, where the same were examined jointly by a team comprising representatives of local Police, Customs Intelligence, and officers and staff of the Enforcement Division D.I.K.
Joint examination revealed that the 3 trucks and 5 containers were loaded with foreign origin smuggled goods, including tyres, yeast, cloth, welding electrodes, black tea, dry yeast, glassware, plastic ware.

The combined CIF value of seized goods is Rs. 389 million and vehicles/ containers is Rs. 130 million, thus the total value of the goods and vehicles/containers comes to a Rs. 519 million.

The Director General, Intelligence & Investigation has appreciated the efforts of Customs Enforcment, D.I.Khan and Customs Intelligence Peshawar for carrying out huge operations against smuggling. He paid special thanks to D.I.Khan Police, Pak Army, IFC 11 Corpse and Intelligence Bureau as without their support the operation would not have been possible. He showed resolve to carry out such operations throughout the country with Zero tolerance to any laxity to smuggling by any Customs Staff.
