Customs Intelligence Karachi seizes smuggled auto spare parts worth Rs450 million

The Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation- Customs, Karachi seized smuggled auto spare parts worth Rs 450 million from a warehouse in S.I.T.E area.

According to details told by Additional Director Afzaal Wattoo said that during ongoing crack down against smuggling, the Directorate has seized smuggled auto spare parts of Rs 2.2 billion approx recently.

The background of the Rs.450 million smuggled auto parts case is that the Director General of Customs Intelligence, Faiz Ahmad Chadhar, relayed credible information to Directorate of Customs Intelligence, Karachi regarding substantial dumping of smuggled auto spare parts located in a warehouse in S.I.T.E Area, Karachi.

The Additional said that to responding promptly, the premises was raided. The owner claimant tried to cover the goods under older import documents. Detailed scrutiny of Sales Tax Returns corresponding to the import documents revealed that auto parts imported against those import documents had already been sold in the market leading to the ascertainment that information was correct and found goods had been smuggled into the country.

Accordingly, Legal proceedings have been initiated, and ongoing investigations aim to unveil the masterminds, financiers, and executors behind this extensive smuggling operation the Additional Director informed.

He said that the Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Chadhar, appreciated the efforts of Director Habib Ahmad, Additional Director Afzaal Wattoo, Deputy Director Wasif Malik, Appraising Officer Asad Shabbir and other team members of Customs Intelligence, Karachi.
