Customs I&I karachi makes crack down at no go area and seized smuggled goods worth Rs 2.5 billions

Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi with assistance of Rangers and Sindh Police made a huge crackdown at Yousuf Goth, the largest dumping place of smuggled goods in Karachi and seized huge quantity of various type of smuggled goods in quantity of 16 loaded trucks.

According to details share by Additional Director Customs I&I (Intelligence and Investigation) enforcement Karachi Afzal Wattoo that pursuing the specific directions received by Director General Customs Intelligence Faiz Chadhar and Director I&I Karachi Habib Ahmad to carry out anti-smuggling operation in major dumping places of smuggled
goods.

Accordingly, Yousuf Goth, the largest dumping place of smuggled goods in Karachi was identified and kept under surveillance through the staff of Customs Intelligence, Karachi
and Sindh Police.

As per details of operation on September 19,2023 it was learnt that huge quantity of smuggled goods were present at gowdown on 100 feet road covered school building at Yousaf Goth. A joint anti-smuggling operation was planned with the support of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh,
Commissioner, Karachi Salim Rajput, DIG South, Asad Raza, SSP South Arif Rao.

A team comprising of Deputy Director and Superintendent Anti-Smuggling
Organisation of Customs Intelligence, Karachi was constituted which raided the specific target premises in morning hours on same day.The operation started at 10 am on and lasted till 04 am on 20.9.2023. Huge quantity of different smuggled goods were recovered and brought to the Directorate of Customs Intelligence in 16 loaded trucks. The approx market value of these goods has been
ascertained as Rs. 250 million.

FIRs were being lodged against the smugglers. Further investigation is underway to reach out to the planners, financers and executors behind
smuggling of these goods.

This is the first successful anti-smuggling operation in the no-go area of Yousuf Goth. Addressing a press briefing the Director Habib Ahmad told media that Directorate of I&I Karachi during the month of September 2023 has made 24 no of cases valuing more the Rs 8 billions.

The Directorate of Customs Intelligence appreciate the efforts and support of Pakistan Rangers, Sindh and Sindh Police who are providing all possible efforts & support for curbing the menace of smuggling.
