COAS meets Saudi counterpart, discuss bilateral relations

Lieutenant General Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mutair, Commander of the Royal Saudi Land Forces (RSLF), called on Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir at the GHQ, on Monday.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two high-ranking officials "discussed various areas of mutual interest including cooperation in the fields of defence, security, military training as well as regional situation and the ongoing conflict in Middle East".

The "visiting dignitary appreciated [the] Pakistan Army’s role in fighting the menace of terrorism and paid rich tribute to the sacrifices made in bringing peace to the region".

The COAS thanked the dignitary, stating that, “Pakistan deeply values its strategic and brotherly ties with the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia.”

Earlier on arrival at the GHQ, "a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented the guard of honour to the visiting dignitary", the ISPR stated.

Three days ago, on November 24, 2023, Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Saleh bin Abdullah bin Muhammad Humaid met Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.

The officials jointly condemned the ongoing atrocities in the Gaza conflict and the oppression faced by Muslims in IIOJK, expressing solidarity with the people of Palestine and Kashmir.

Imam-e-Kaaba Sheikh Saleh, who was on a four-day official visit to Pakistan, also separately met with PM Kakar and army chief Gen Asim to discuss matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting with Gen Asim at the General Headquarters (GHQ), discussions were held on matters of shared concern.

Meanwhile, Commander of the Royal Saudi Land Forces Lieutenant General Fahad Bin Abdullah Muhammad Al Mutair called on Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

The ISPR said that both sides deliberated upon various areas of mutual interest, and bilateral cooperation including defence and security during the meeting.
