Due to unavailability of user HS code of some items in system of Department of Plant Protection dozens of vehicles being cleared duty taxes by Customs department are parked unsafely for last 22 days causing loss millions rupees Torkham local media reports.
Answering to a query the Collector Appraisement Model Customs Collectorate Peshawar Muhammad Ishfaq Khan told Mahsool.net that this matter is related with Department of Plant Protection but Collectorate is trying to resolve this matter.
Moaz Ali an officer of Department of Plant Protection Torkham informed the media that the relevant authorities in Karachi Head Office have been informed about the problem regarding the goods that are in the vehicles coming from Afghanistan having no user HS codes in the system and are now waiting for the response from the Karachi head office.
Customs clearing agent Amir Shanwari told the media that 50 vehicles have been parked at Torkham carrying imported goods comprises Beans, lentil mash, alfa seed, cabbage and some other items from Afghanistan in connection with bilateral trade, all the documents and duty taxes have been cleared by the customs he added. Shanwari strongly requested the higher officials of the Plant Protection Department to upgrade the system in Torkham and clear the vehicles by adding the HS codes of items so that the difficulties of the traders can be reduced and further financial loss can be avoided.
The drivers of the vehicles carrying above mention goods also told the media that their losses continues on a daily basis and the vehicles are also unsafely parked.
