Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, highlighted the successful retention of cooperation in the security realm and the expansion of the Pakistan-U.S. relationship in the economic sphere over the past two years.
Speaking at the New Mexico Global Santa Fe think tank, he emphasized that despite the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and reduced American presence in the region, the terrorism threat remains a significant concern.
Khan pointed out that the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) continues to pose a threat and has been responsible for the loss of more than 1,500 lives in Pakistan since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Ambassador Khan underscored the joint commitment of both Pakistan and the United States to combat this menace through collaborative counterterrorism efforts.
He emphasized that the stability of the entire region hinges on achieving stability in Afghanistan, and both nations share the responsibility of contributing to Afghanistan's path towards stabilization.
Furthermore, Ambassador Masood Khan stressed the importance of fostering people-to-people contacts and enhancing economic, trade, and investment ties as the future of the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and the United States.
