After implantation of (temporary Entry Document) TED pass Torkham border has re-opened on 5th August 2024 and things are normal as well as same rules applied to all border stations adjacent with Afghanistan under jurisdiction of Collectorate of Customs Peshawar said a high official of Customs.
Another senior Customs official conformed that Pak-Afghan-Turkham border has been re-opened for bilateral trade after the implementations of TED.
The official further told that after several rounds of meetings and discussions in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the government has reopened the international Torkham border he added that now the truckers who meet the conditions of TED can cross the border normally by showing there documents.
Giving details, official said that the border was closed from July 31,2024 because the TED (Temporary Entry Document) issued to the truckers had expired, adding that the government imposed TED conditions to obtained and maintained trucker’s digital data.
In response to a query, the senior officer said that the TED’s ban will not affect the import-export activity but it will smoothly continued.
A businessman told the correspondent that Pakistan had asked Afghan truck drivers to obtain temporary documents to cross the border by July 31, but most drivers did not obtained required documentation.
