The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday suspended former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi's detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and ordered his release.
The court also issued notices to several individuals, including the Islamabad deputy commissioner, for a hearing scheduled for Tuesday. It also directed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) president to appear for tomorrow's hearing and instructed him to refrain from making any statements prior to it.

During the hearing, the ex-minister’s counsel claimed that his client has refrained from making any public statements for the past four months, asserting that "there is no case filed against Elahi in Islamabad".
His legal team also said that he had been discharged from the anti-corruption case by the Lahore High Court (LHC). “The court had declared the NAB [National Accountability Bureau] case against him illegal,” added the lawyer.
However, he informed the high court that upon Elahi's release from the LHC, his client was taken into custody again by the Islamabad police.
The lawyer further reiterated that the PTI stalwart has never organised any protests, rallies or demonstrations in the federal capital.
After hearing arguments from both parties, the high court announced the reserved verdict suspending Elahi's detention under the MPO and ordered his release.
